Growth and quality performances of seaweed (Kappaphycus alvarezii) with different combinations of temperature and light parameters

Abstract This study aimed to analyze the optimal combination of temperature and light for growth quality Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed. used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD factorial) consisting 2 factors (temperature light) with three replications, which included 28, 31, 34 °C 50 100 photons (µmol m −2 s −1 ). The test object was seaweed seed weighing g. results showed that S28C100 treatment gave highest absolute weight value (P<0.05). specific rate (SGR) found in S31C100 treatments, not significantly different between two, respectively 3.77±0.058% 3.03±0.12%. Treatment S31C50 followed by carrageenan yield, but there no significant difference 15.505±0.71% 13.965±0.26%. this resulted gel strength values 922.150±234.26 1048.555±266.46 g.cm each treatment.
